KARACHI: President-elect Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday said the
present government gives top priority to peace and security in Karachi
as it is essential for prosperity and the development of the country.
“Prosperous Karachi means prosperous Pakistan. Without taking care of Karachi's economy we cannot think of better economy and development of the country,” he asserted while addressing business community at a dinner hosted for him by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) here.
The president-elect underlined the need for joint efforts by all political parties/groups and other sections of the society for steering the country out of crisis.
These days in the world, he added, economy is given priority over politics.
Mamnoon Hussain assured that he would act as a bridge between the federal government and the business community for the resolution of trade and industry issues besides those of Sindh, especially Karachi.
He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government was very serious and sincere in maintaining peace and security in the country especially in Karachi and addressing the energy crisis.
The president-elect advised the business community to guide the provincial and federal governments in coping with the law and order and energy enhancement.
He assured the KCCI members that he would take up their issues including that of SROs of Federal Board of Revenue with the federal finance minister and hoped that their genuine grievances would be resolved.
KCCI President Muhammad Haroon Agar, Chairman Businessmen Group (BMG) Siraj Kassam Teli, Vice Chairman of BMG and Chairman of Sindh Board of Investment, Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Vice Chairman of BMG and former president KCCI Muhammad Tahir Khaliq among others were present on the occasion.
