LAHORE: Expressing his gratitude to the Supreme Court for
overturning the Lahore High Court orders of staying the construction of
Orange Line Metro Train at 11 points, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on
Friday criticized his political rivals for delaying the
“public-interest” project.
“The Supreme Court endorsed
our stance [on the project] while our political rivals had to bite dust
on the issue,” he told a press conference here on Friday.
He
lamented that the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) didn’t care
for the common man otherwise it would not have hindered the project by
taking it to courts to the disadvantage of the lower middle class that
couldn’t afford their own conveyance.
He alleged that PTI
chief Imran Khan had lied to the people on this and Metro bus projects
and that the people would not forgive Niazi Sahib for the 22-month delay
in the completion of the transport project. The CM hoped that the
project would be completed within six to seven months and that the price
of the train tickets would be kept within the purchasing power of the
commuters.
