Deadline to submit details of party assets ends

ISLAMABAD: The deadline of August 29 set by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to submit statements of party assets has expired, Geo News reported Friday.
According to details, the ECP had fixed 29th of this month as the final date for submission of assets, however, only 48 political parties out of 230 have submitted the details so far with the commission.
The ECP sources told that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Awami National Party (ANP) have submitted the details of party assets.
However, other parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) have not yet provided the statements of their assets.
It may be mentioned that the ECP will not issue any election symbol to parties that will fail to submit the asset details.
